Beautiful Smiles Get Noticed

Do you avoid smiling? Do you use your hands to hide your smile because you have a complex about your mouth? Today, with new orthodontic techniques, you can align your teeth and have the smile of your dreams! Ask our orthodontist about the different orthodontic techniques that are right for you.

What is Orthodontic Treatment?

Orthodontics Orthodontics is a discipline that aims to harmonise the face. The orthodontist's main aim is to align the teeth and correct malpositioning and jaw problems. Malpositions are generally genetic in origin, but can have other origins. These include functional causes such as thumb sucking or mouth breathing.

Why see an orthodontist?

A visit to an orthodontist is the first step in helping someone achieve the smile they've always dreamed of. It should be noted that orthodontics is a process that requires regular visits to your dentist and orthodontist. This applies not only when you are younger, but also as an adult. As well as correcting problems with misaligned teeth, an orthodontist can detect other problems that may be affecting your health and well-being. These include crowded teeth. This occurs when two or more teeth touch. Crowded teeth can cause pain due to the pressure exerted on their surface, which can lead people with crowded teeth to problems such as:

  • Headaches from grinding against each other throughout the day or night
  • Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD )
  • Jaw pain, muscle pain or jaw tension

The different phases of orthodontic treatment:

I. Consultation
First of all, our orthodontist carries out a full clinical examination. Then he or she takes photographs and impressions, and requests x-rays, including panoramic and teleradiography. Finally, the doctor will diagnose your case. He will discuss the various treatment options with you.

II. Orthodontic check-up
Using the x-rays sent by the patient and the moulds made from the impressions taken during the first appointment, the practitioner will be able to complete the observations made during the first consultation. A final diagnosis will be drawn up. The estimate will also be based on the treatment plan and the equipment chosen.

III. Fitting the fittings
Don't hesitate to plan a fairly long visit. Beforehand, the practitioner will recommend scaling and polishing for better adhesion. He will then place the metal or transparent brackets on your teeth. Each element must be carefully positioned on the teeth to achieve optimum results.
Note: If a bracket becomes detached, this is not serious, but you should contact us as soon as possible to arrange your appointment.

IV. Removal with Finishing and Restraint
Finally, when the orthodontist considers that the correction is optimal, the braces are removed. The teeth are then professionally cleaned to remove adhesive debris. Professional bleaching is also recommended. In the endThe practitioner then places the restraint, which will remain in place for the rest of the patient's life to guarantee the stability of the treatment.

How long does the treatment last?

On average, orthodontic treatment lasts less than two years. But it can vary from one to three years. Your orthodontist will be able to give you an estimate of the treatment time required, but this will vary according to the patient's motivation and the reaction of the teeth to the dental movements exerted by the braces.

Children and Orthodontics:

Keep a close eye on your child, and take note of a few warning signs:

  • A significant gap between the upper and lower teeth.
  • A baby tooth that does not fall out spontaneously.
  • A small mouth, narrow jaws.
  • Open-mouthed breathing.
  • Snoring during sleep.
  • A pronunciation error.
  • Bad habits such as sucking a finger or using a soother for a long time.
  • Diastemas or gaps between teeth that are too wide.
  • Alignment problems, crowding or misaligned teeth.

It should be noted that the first consultation with an orthodontist should take place between the ages of 6 and 12. This consists of a clinical examination of the child to assess the need for treatment and the ideal age at which to intervene.

Up to what age is this possible?

There really is no age limit, and we can even take on patients aged 80!

Types of dental appliances:

We offer every possible type of dental appliance: self-ligating, Damon, aesthetic ceramic brackets, Invisalign and other types of appliance:

The Damon system

Unlike conventional braces, the Damon system uses gentle forces designed to protect the health of your teeth and gums during treatment. The Damon system treats dental problems more quickly and comfortably than traditional systems. What's more, it avoids the tooth pain, irritation and bleeding gums common in traditional orthodontic treatment.
The Damon system gives you a smile that's more than just straight teeth - it's a beautiful, wide, natural smile. Imagine having your teeth straight and aligned in a wide "arc" of a smile. That's what we call a Damon Smile. However, the cost of the Damon system can be higher than that of traditional orthodontic systems.

Transparent Rings (Ceramic)

These are orthodontic appliances used to correct dental problems such as malocclusions (incorrect positioning of the teeth). They are similar to traditional metal brackets, but are made of white ceramic, a more aesthetic and discreet material than metal. The advantages of ceramic brackets include a more attractive appearance than metal brackets. However, they can be more fragile than metal brackets and require more careful maintenance. In general, ceramic brackets are more expensive than metal brackets, but may be a more attractive option for patients concerned about the appearance of their teeth during orthodontic treatment.

Invisalign and Invisible Eavestroughs

Invisalign is a transparent dental aligner system used to correct dental problems such as malocclusions. It offers advantages such as a more discreet appearance, shorter treatment time, better oral hygiene, increased convenience and greater comfort than traditional braces such as metal or ceramic brackets. However, they can be more expensive. It is important to discuss with our orthodontist whether Invisalign is the best choice for your particular situation.
There are also other braces available in our dental centre, just talk to our orthodontist to find the best option for you.
